I met Tom through his friendship with John, but he was a frequent visitor to our house and we shared many happy times. I always remember the last New Year's Eve we spent together (John and I always hosted the gang at New Year's). The guys, Phil Hubbard and brothers, Tom, Bill Jackson, Rick Baumgarten, and many others were there, but the boys stayed way past midnight. I finally pretended to fall asleep in my chair so that everyone would finally go home. I'm so sorry I did that, Tom! If only I'd realized how short our time together was . . .
