The memory of Allan's quick humor has stayed with me all these years, enjoyed to my peril in English class as he passed me notes with hilarious one-liners about the lessons. One in particular, perfectly encompassing Jonathan Swift's satire and descent into insanity, made me laugh out loud. Miss Ewalt extended the greatest compliment to Allan... patiently claiming the note, sharing a bit of a chuckle as she read it, then tucking it in her pocket as she carried on with the class. She fully appreciated his view of the world, as do I, still. He was definitely a keeper.
