Miles Sandler

Miles Fredrick Sandler, 61, Prairie Village, KS passed away unexpectedly, June 14, 2011 at his home. 

Miles was born in Kansas City and remained a lifelong area resident. He was a man of many talents; an attorney, published poet and most notably a world renowned expert in antique pocket watches and coins. He received his law degree from The University of Missouri-KC and his Masters of English Literature from the University of Kansas. Miles served as an assistant Jackson Co. prosecuting attorney shortly after graduating law school. He owned Maundy International, which traded in antique watches of all kinds around the world. 

Miles was a loving husband to his wife of 32 years Diane “Dooley” Sandler and in recent years was her caretaker as she is battling a terminal illness. 

Miles was preceded in death by his father Sheldon Sandler and his step-father Robert Volk. 

He is survived by his wife Dooley, Overland Park, KS; his loving mother, Bernice Volk and her companion Hal Lewis, Sarasota, FL; brother and sister-in-law: Scott and Julie Sandler, Natick, MA; step-brother and his wife: Steve and Lisa Volk, Boulder, CO; step-sisters: Merl Volk, Denver, CO, Barbara Price, Corpus Christi, TX; uncle: Victor Siegel, Overland Park, KS; aunt and uncle: Bettye Sue and Bernard Balkin, Kansas City, MO; step-mother Shirley Sandler, Raymore, MO and her children, James, Sarah and Greg. Many cousins also survive.
