OBITUARY

William "Bill" Leigh Decker
JUNE 7, 1950 – AUGUST 14, 2020

Obituary of William "Bill" Leigh Decker
William “Bill” Decker, age 70, died unexpectedly from complications due to cirrhosis of the liver on August 14, 2020. Bill was born on June 7th, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Southwest high school in 1968 and joined the Missouri National Guard that same year. He went on to graduate from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg later with a degree in electronics. Bill’s working career was main as a field service tech repairing things like the computerized cash registers to most recently, lap top computers. His motto was always, “If it blows smoke – call me!” He retired from field service in 2018 and has spent his time during retirement to learn a new hobby, stained glass.

Bill’s other favorite hobbies were playing guitar with friends, fishing, brewing and drinking GOOD beer, camping in Colorado, and collecting and shooting guns. The most enjoyable times of his life included playing guitar and singing with his friends around a really good bon-fire! Thank you to those who helped make those times special for him!

Bill’s love of music is what drew him to the place where he met his wife Dee in January 2001. From that moment on, he and she could be seen following their favorite local band, “PHD”, or at open mic nights at Kyle’s tap room, The Peanut, Knuckle Heads, and anywhere else their friends would play! Bill and Dee were married at their home on September 15, 2001. Just 4 days after 9/11. In 2010, Bill finally got the opportunity to move back to Colorado, fulfilling a dream of his. They only spent 2 years there and decided that home is where the heart is which for them meant Missouri.

Bill is preceded in death by his older brother Steven Decker, and his parents, Chuck and Betty Decker.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dee Decker, and his step-children, Adrian Peugh, Ben Gray, and Clarissa Linhart.

Flowers or plants can be sent to Dee Decker at 6316 N. Camelot Dr., Gladstone, MO 64119. Or memorial donations may be sent to The American Liver Foundation (www.liverfoundation.org).

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Party, at the home (6316 N. Camelot Dr., Gladstone, MO) on September 12th, 2020 from 6 PM to 9 PM. Anyone who has played music with Bill in the past is encouraged to bring their instruments to play in his memory. The family will not require masks but encourages everyone to make the choice that is best for them as there may be several people in attendance.
