Heidi Summers (Kilburn)

Heidi Rose (Summers) Kilburn, 32, and Morgan Marie, 11, of Kendallville, died January 7, 2005 in an auto accident at the intersection of S.R. 3 and S.R. 8 in Avilla.  Heidi was born May 30, 1972 in Kendallville to Stephen and Evelyn (Sutton) Summers, who were also killed in the accident.  She graduated from East Noble High School in 1990 and married Shawn Leon Kilburn on September 4, 1992 in Brandenburg, Ky.  Surviving are a daughter, Sara; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, April Summers of Kendallville, and Terri and Chris Clark of Avilla; her grandmother, Maxine Summers, and her grandfather, Jim Ohlwine of Kendallville.  She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Judy Kilburn, on November 3, 2002; her father-in-law, Jessie Kilburn on February 9, 2004; her grandfather, Maynard Summers on March 11, 1990; and her grandmother, Betty Ohlwine, on May 10, 2001.  She was the store manager of Wilby's at U.S. 6 and S.R. 9 west of Kendallville.  Morgan was born December 2, 1993. Her father survives.  Morgan was also preceded in death by a great-grandfather, Mose Guthrie.   Burial, Lake View Cemetery.

I remember hearing about the horrible accident that Heidi was in. The obituary makes it kind of confusing. It was a very sad thing for the family. Heidi was such a sweet person. She would do anything for you. I'm glad that through Shaun (Wineland) Hart -who lived across the street from her growing up- that I got to know her. It is so shocking hearing of someone from our class who has passed - and there are too many.
