I have fond memories of homeroom with Jack sitting behind me. His long legs and size 13 shoes would rub against my skirts and hang over into the aisle. He knew he was irritating me and enjoyed every moment of it ... with his big smile. He was as gentle as he was great!
Andi saw the "softer" side of Jack. He and I made the journey from elementary school all the way to graduation in 1963. I made an almost reasonable attempt to play football for the Blue Devils in a manner which even remotely compared to "The Bear." He was, indeed, a gentle giant who had a sincere heart and a caring demeanor. I believe many of us miss him and hope to be in his company again in future times.
