During the past four years I have been active in suicide prevention. I was initially asked to develop interactive training on suicide prevention for veterans and those who interact with veterans. Since then individuals from around the world have participated via Zoom, many of whom have written to me about how they prevented a death by applying what they learned. The training consists of three one-hour sessions based on the R.A.C.E. model, which stands for Recognize distress, Ask the person, Care for the person, and Escort the person.
