In 7th grade, Steve was my first ever boyfriend...we had no clue how to date and were so stinking shy we just walked around holding hands and not talking for a week then broke up! He remained a good, fun friend through middle school, but we grew apart a bit in high school. He and my best friend, Jan Winters, dated pretty seriously for quite some time. Steve was in school making his dream of becoming a pilot come true when his plane crashed. His untimely and violent death was such a sad, terrible shock.

I remember skiing with Steve at Wilmot Ski Hills on Wednesday nights. Us "stay on the snow" skiers were in awe of his ability to ski and jump moguls.

Yes! I remember mogul jumping and Steve well! The first time I ever went skiing was with Steve and a group of friends. I didn't like being left behind on the bunny line, so I went to the top of the hill with everyone else. Got upthere  and had no clue how to get down! (Stupid eighth grader!!) Steve had me hang on to him from behind, his skis straddling mine. And then he proceeded to fly down the hill, over every mogul he could find...me screaming every time we went airborne as he laughed maniacally! Great memories.
