Diane Holcomb (Durham)

Diane Holcomb (Durham)

June 3, 1956 - Jan. 20, 2018

Diane Holcomb Durham, passed away on January 20, 2018. Diane was born on June 3, 1956 in Winston- Salem, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Ruth and Cranford Holcomb.

Diane was a loving wife and mother, but her most treasured role was as “Mimi" to her grandchildren.  In 2014, she retired from Wesleyan Christian Academy where she was a teacher’s assistant for 20 years, to stay home with her grandchildren.  Since that time, she spent every day loving, teaching and playing with her grand-daughter and 2 grandsons.

In 1977, Diane married the love of her life, Charlie Durham, after they attended East Carolina University together.  They lived in Kingsport, Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Kernersville and High Point, North Carolina where they raised their two girls. Diane’s passion in life was to be with family and friends, and was known for welcoming anyone into her home.  She was an encourager to many, and loved people deeply.  Diane also loved  being active in the churches she attended wherever she lived.

Diane is survived by her husband, Charlie Durham; daughters Tyler Wilson and husband Jeff and Sarah Waller and husband Corbin both of High Point, NC; grandchildren Emersyn and Carter Wilson and Cameron Waller; brothers Danny Holcomb of Sarasota, FL and Darryl Holcomb of Winston-Salem, NC; and a number of other close relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at 1pm on January 24th at Community Bible Church of High Point with a service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the Wesleyan Christian Academy scholarship fund. Please make checks payable to Wesleyan Christian Academy. On the memo line, please designate to “Diane Durham Memorial.” 1917 N. Centennial Street, High Point, NC 27265.

As years pass and we lose touch with classmates some memories stand out that time cannot erase...Diane was always cheerful, always helpful, always kind. I pray for her family and friends as they find a way to deal with losing Diane, and in the days ahead may her laughter become a cherished memory for each and every person she touched.
