Harley Gentry Roper, Jr. closed his beautiful blue eyes and walked into Heaven’s Glory on Friday, September 23, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday September 28, 2016 at First Christian Church in Kernersville with Pastor Pete Kunkle officiating.  Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.

Left to carry on his memories is his devoted wife of 40 years Jill P. Roper; daughters Danielle (Wesly) Herrin, Amanda (James) Roper; grandchildren Dylan and Allyannah.  Also surviving are his mother Betty Roper; mother-in-law Loretta Peeples; sisters Sandy (Friedel) Kueng and Beverly (Mitch) Shears, and many beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews who adored him and a special family friend Cathie Hayes.  He was greeted in Heaven by his dad Harley “Bud” Roper, Sr. and his brother Clyde Roper.  Harley was born August 5, 1956 in Boone, NC and was a welding superintendent by trade.  He loved NASCAR, sports, practical jokes, but most of all his true joy was his family.  A devoted family man he loved his wife “Baby Jill” and daughters deeply.  Becoming “Papa G” to his grandbabies was a dream come true.  May they always remember the love that he had for them.  A born again Christian, Harley was comforted in his last days by Psalms 23.  The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to WFBMC doctors and nurses on 4B ICU north tower and Hospice and palliative care. The family also wants to thank the ministers at First Christian Church for their love and care for Harley and the family.

Friends and family will visit from 5:30 until 7:30PM Tuesday evening at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
