In Memory

Barbara Lara (Vinciguerra)

Barbara Lara (Vinciguerra)

Goldsboro – Barbara Glenda Vinciguerra entered into her eternal reward Thursday, May 25, 2023 at home. Born June 25, 1948 in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Theresa Lara. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary Frances Douglass.

Barbara was a graduate of Robert W. Traip Academy in Kittery, Maine. She remained in Kittery until she relocated to Goldsboro where she has been a resident for the last 37 years.

Barbara was very creative, and her creativity was exemplified through her various jobs within the North Carolina system. Having worked at both O’Berry Center and Cherry Hospital, she retired after many years of service as an occupational therapy technician, which allowed her to do more of the things she loved such as baking, sewing, traveling, and gardening.

She loved God and faithfully served Him as a parishioner of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. She generously lived the Gospel message through many humble acts of generosity, love and charity to all she met.

A stranger to no one, Barbara always welcomed family, friends, and guests to her home with openness and sincerity. Her kindness, delicious cooking, and wacky sense of humor always made everyone feel at ease.

Barbara was a devoted wife and mother who will be remembered for her self-sacrifice. She was always willing and eager to help anyone who needed her, especially her children and grandchildren. She was truly proud to be called “Mom” and even more proud to be called “Grammie.” She was an amazing Mom and Grammie and will be sorely missed by her entire family.

Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family: her husband of 54 years, Charlie Vinciguerra; her daughters, Lisa Demers and husband, Charles, and Stacy Lekander and husband, James; son, David Vinciguerra and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Allison Demers, Mikayla Demers, Gillian Lekander, Natalie Vinciguerra, and Nathan Vinciguerra; siblings, James “Bud” Bland, Louise Bland, Kenneth Lara, William Lara, Mary DeCoff; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, June 9, 2023, followed by a funeral service at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, with Father Roch Drozdzik officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Services have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
