Danny Leavitt

Kittery- Danny R. Leavitt, 76 of Wilson Road in Kittery died on April 18, 2023 at his home following a short period of failing health.

Born in Portsmouth NH on November 26,1946 the son of the late Frank and Carolyn (Pierce) Leavitt. Dan was raised in Kittery attending local school and graduating from R. W. Traip Academy with the class of 1967. His mom would often lovingly say “Dan was supposed to arrive with Santa in the sleigh at Christmas, but came on Thanksgiving with the Turkey instead.“

Following graduation he joined his dad Frank as co-owner of Frank and Danny’s Garage in Kittery. He worked to continue the impeccable service folks were accustomed to and operated it until his retirement.

Danny was a fixture at local car shows with his 1958 Ford retractable and his corvettes over the years. He was a member for many years of the Ford International Retractable club for many years, traveling throughout the US and beyond for meets.

He travelled extensively with his mom, enjoying trips to Scotland, England, and many other destinations, later in life he and his devoted partner of thirteen years Patricia Eld would travel to Paris, London, Niagara Falls and to Kentucky for the Retractable Meets and a memorable trip to the Hawaiian Islands where a helicopter tour into the volcano was a highlight, as well as many other enjoyable trips.

Locally over the years he enjoyed eating often at the Maine Diner, Flo’s Hot Dogs and Gilly’s in Portsmouth.

He is survived by his partner Patricia Eld of Kittery, and his Aunt Donna Johnson of York.

Friends are invited to a memorial visitation form 2-4pm on Saturday May 6, 2023 in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904.
