Cheryl was a very fun-loving and kindhearted person.  I have a special memory of a plan Cheryl, along with several of us, formulated at the end of our freshman year.  We wanted to honor Flory Jones, our wonderful, young English teacher who was leaving LCHS to take a position in Beverly Hills Unified.  Not able to think of anything more appropriate than to use tempra paint to write our goodbyes and special messages of appreciation on her car, we cleared this clever idea with her good friend and teacher, Mr. Bartol.  He gave us his blessing and assured us that Flory Jones would be very appreciative of this unique recognition.  Beginning to carry out our mission during a lunch break, what possibly could go wrong?  Her car was parked quite close to the administrative offices.  While we were creating our messages, out of the office walked Mr. Eaton.  There we were with no place to hide.  He proceeded to haul us all into the patio of the teachers' lounge, lining us up, facing the closed drapes in the windows of the lounge.  He then went inside, opened the drapes, and announced to the staff, seated at their lunch tables, exactly what we had been caught doing.  I think we were all mortified at the time, but it truly was a great idea that just hadn't been properly executed.  Miss Jones liked our work a lot!---Dear Cheryl, thank you for that special memory.  Rest in peace, precious soul.
