In Memory

Patti Sullivan

Patti Sullivan

The following was sent by her personal representative on May 15.

I am writing on behalf of Patti, Patricia Sullivan, class of 1969.

I am sorry to inform you and the rest of your classmates that Patti died on 5/3/19 after a brief and unexpected illness. It was a complete shock to everyone who knew her.

Her sister has arranged a memorial mass at St Bede on Saturday June 1 at 10:00 a.m.

I was also stunned to hear of Patti's passing. She was a wonderful friend through grade school, high school and PCC. I had seen her a few times throughout the years but more so during the past 6 years in which my husband and I have been traveling full time in our motorhome. The most recent was last summer when we were in Chimicum, WA. She and Mae, her long time roommate, came to visit and have lunch. I will treasure that memory forever. She was truly one of the happiest people I've ever known. She will be missed by her many many friends and family. RIP Patti

Love,
Janet (Sheedy) Stanger

Janet your response reminded me of a quote once heard.  "The comfort of having a friend may be taken away, but not that of having one."   I last saw Patti and you at the 20 year re-union and will never forget the kindness the two of you shared.  Oz

I'm so sorry to hear of Patti's passing. It reminds us of how fast time flies and how precious that time is for all of us.  She always had a smile on her face and a good heart.  My prayers and sympathies to her family and friends.  Dayl

Janet I agree. She was a great person with a good sense of humor and a big heart. We went through St Bedes and high school together and I think we walked home together most days. Although we didn’t talk to each other we always sent each other birthday wishes each year. Patti is going to be missed by all of us.

Surprising and sad. And it does remind us (as the other writers said) that we never know how long our time on earth is! My own sister, class of '67, just didn't wake up on January 7th of this year. I guess that's what we can all wish for (although not so soon)! The kindest and most appropriate 'means to an end' for a sweetheart like Patti is for death to come unexpectedly. It sounds like that happened for Patti. Patti, you'll be missed !

It's taken me a couple of weeks to process the news of Patti's passing as I've been flooded with memories of our friendship. I met Patti in high school after moving to Cali in 1965 and she befriended me immediately with - as mentioned in above postings - her big heart and always cheerful attitude. Patti was kind and thoughtful,  a fellow animal lover as I am, and a gifted artist even having a small office in Montrose in the 70's where she worked as a graphic artist. Patti was in my first wedding in 1974 and we stayed in contact for many many yrs. after she moved to Washington, but as often sadly happens, our contact was eventually reduced to a yearly Christmas card. I am so thankful for our time together at our 40th reunion and also on the following morning when my husband and I had breakfast with Patti, her sister and husband, and Gary (Altunian). I treasure the photos I have of Patti and I throughout the yrs. and especially the last picture I have of Patti, Gary, and me that Sunday morning in front of Dish restaurant.
