Mary L. Winder, 65, of La Crosse passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

She was born Oct. 1, 1948, in La Crosse, to Don W. and Ruth (Dikeman) Chesebro. Mary was a 1966 graduate of Aquinas High School in La Crosse. She then went on to obtain her Associate’s degree in computer science from Western Technical Institute in La Crosse, (formerly Western Wisconsin Technical College). She married James Winder June 24, 1976, in La Crosse. Mary was employed as a document control specialist for nearly 25 years at Trane Company in La Crosse. She then continued to work as a document control specialist for G.E.A. in Galesville, (formerly, Westfalia Surge, formerly, Babson Brothers), retiring after 20 years. Mary was a member of the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52, the Eagles Aerie #1254, and the Moose Family Center Lodge #1920 Ladies Auxiliary, all of La Crosse.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, James; her sister, Ruth A. (Mathew B.) Potter; her sister-in-law, Roberta Chesebro; nephews and nieces, Daniel M. Chesebro, Lois Krause, William Chesebro, Kevin Chesebro, Anna Danielson, Diane Garnett, Michael Chesebro, Michelle Eddy, Don R. Chesebro, Cheryl L. Baltzell, Ruth L. Potter, Mathew W.D. Potter, and Mark W. Potter; many more great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Donald F. Chesebro and Delmer G. Chesebro; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Chesebro.

No services will be conducted at this time. A celebration of life will be held on a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the La Crosse American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52, the Eagles Aerie #1254, or the Moose Family Center Lodge #1920 Ladies Auxiliary, all in La Crosse.
