Joyce A. Cartwright, 64, of La Crosse passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Bethany Riverside Care Center.

She was born in La Crosse on Nov. 19, 1948, to Morris and Delores (McLaughlin) Lillethun. On Dec. 17, 1977, Joyce married John Cartwright in West Salem.

Joyce worked as a medical transcriptionist for Gundersen Lutheran and St. Francis Hospital for over 40 years.

Joyce loved the outdoors and keeping fit, listening to music and volunteering. Her sense of humor was unsurpassed and her dedication to friends unmatched. But most of all, she had unconditional love for her family. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed and will remain an excellent role model for all who met her.

Joyce is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Tracy (Mike) Shackelford of Chicago; son, Benjamin (Polly) Cartwright of Portland, Ore.; granddaughter, Madison; and two brothers, John (Donna) Lillethun of Madison, Wis. and Joel (Pam) Lillethun of Waynesville, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jim.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 13 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 13th St., La Crosse. The Reverend Rick Roberts will officiate, and entombment will be in the Chapel of Devotion at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the church.
