Candace Lynne (Melbo) Taylor, 40, of 303 West Avenue, Holmen, and formerly of 1452 Rose Street, La Crosse, died of cancer Wednesday, May 10, 1989, in Lutheran Hospital.

She was born July 10, 1948, in La Crosse, to Helmer and Georgiane (Rupp) Melbo.  She married George Taylor in 1972.  They divorced in 1982.  She was a 1966 graduate of Aquinas High School and a 1989 graduate of the Viterbo College School of Nursing. She was president of the class of nursing graduates.

Survivors include two daughters, Kristi Sue of La Crosse  and Katie at home; three sons, Timothy and Steven both at home and James of Omaha, NE; her mother, Georgiane Hanson of Byron, MN; two sisters, Susan Freigo of Belvidere, IL and Elizabeth Melbo of La Crosse; a brother Steven of La Crosse.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.

Services were at Dickinson Funeral Home, Gillette Street Chapel and St. James Catholic Church.  The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated.  Burial was at the Catholic Cemetery.
