Robert H. Swertfeger, 43, of 939 Farnam St., La Crosse died Dec. 26, 1991, at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.  He was born on Feb. 14, 1948 in La Crosse to Robert and Beverly (Fritz) Swertfeger.  He married Penny Lang in La Crosse on Nov. 4, 1989.  He had worked for La Crosse Footwear until his retirement in 1978.  He was a member of the Holy Trinity Men's Club.  Bob was also active in various softball and bowling leagues in the La Crosse area.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Heidi (Charles) Sokolik of Minneapolis and Maria, at home; by one son, David, at home; one stepdaughter, Kelly (Ronald) Wigdal of La Crosse; one stepson Christopher Lang of La Crosse; one grandson and two stepgrandchildren; his grandmother, Helen Swertfeger of La Crosse; one sister, Mary (William) Lisser of Rochester, MN; two brothers, John (Aimee) of La Crosse and Thomas of Los Alomos, New ME.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and grandparents.

A memorial Mass was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  The body was cremated.  Memorials are requested for the National Kidney Foundation.
