School Story:
As an outsider coming in, it was a tough group to crack into. As much as I begged to go to Central, my mother insisted on Aquinas because of the strict Catholic education I would receive and the solid male role models I could emulate.
She had never met Sisters Judine, Flavia, Lucille et al, or wacky Krajco, bless their tortured souls. Nor had she met "And so on into infinity" Bruha, Father Steiner or Cosmic Ray Heath.
What stands out? How hard I tried to be liked, in so many stupid ways. How I excelled on the field and was a disaster off. How I did my best to learn nothing in high school, and mostly succeeded.
Mule Runs.
Dave Reinders turned one of my entire yearbooks into a comic called Super Penis. It was raunchy and quite funny, yet now looking back, I wonder if Dave was trying to tell me I was just a giant di... er, jerk. This is a family site, I guess.
I also remember Progressives night. Rather fondly.
