William F. “Bill” McCormick, 53, of Bay City, Wis. and formerly of La Crosse, passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born in La Crosse on Feb. 6, 1950 to Ambrose and Kathryn (Moore) McCormick. He graduated from Central High School in 1968. He married Kay Susa on Oct. 3, 1983.

Bill had a passion for cooking and enjoyed cooking for his friends and family; the more people, the better. Bill also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kay; their three children, Paul, Elaine, and Lisa, all at home; and his mother, Kathryn McCormick of La Crosse. He is further survived by four brothers, Robert McCormick of New Auburn, Wis., Dan McCormick of Alma Center, Wis., and Richard (Mary) McCormick and Mark (Linda) McCormick, both of Holmen, Wis.; and one sister, Rita McCormick of Caledonia, Minn. Bill is also survived by his mother-in-law, Shirley (Giles) Susa; as well as many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose; his brother Gerald “Red” McCormick; and two sisters, Mary McCormick and Elaine McCormick, who died in infancy.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. The Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Burial will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Hokah, Minn. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from noon until the time of services.
