PRESS RELEASE FROM HOLLAND HALL SCHOOL, TULSA, OK

Geoffrey Butler Announced as Interim Head

February 26, 2010

Dear Holland Hall Community,

We are pleased to announce that Geoffrey C. Butler has accepted the invitation of the Board of Trustees to serve as the Interim Head of Holland Hall School effective August 1, 2010.

Mr. Butler’s independent school career began in 1966 at Suffield Academy in Suffield, Connecticut, where he became Director of Admission, followed by positions as Assistant Headmaster at Louisville Collegiate School in Louisville, Kentucky, Headmaster of St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Memphis, Tennessee, and Headmaster of Fort Worth Country Day School in Texas. Before retiring in July 2007, he was Executive Director of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest for ten years. Since January of 2009, he has served as Interim Head of School at Trinity School of Midland, Texas.

In addition to his tenure on the Board of Trustees for the National Business Officers’ Association, he has been a trustee of The Hockaday School, and President of the Board of Trustees for the Educational Records Bureau. A life-long Episcopalian, Geoffrey has been Senior Warden of two Episcopal Church vestries as well as chair of a rector search committee and an EFM Mentor.

Geoffrey and his wife Evie have three grown boys and six grandchildren. They enjoy time at their homes in Angel Fire, New Mexico and Destin, Florida. Geoffrey is an avid fly fisherman and pursues bird hunting and golf between fishing seasons. During their years in Fort Worth, Evie was a long-time docent at the Kimbell Art Museum, a member of the Vestry at Trinity Episcopal Church and is a member of the Colonial Dames.

Geoffrey is highly respected in the academic community. His experience both as a Headmaster and as Executive Director of ISAS will provide Holland Hall with a smooth transition and stable environment. He is familiar with our school and culture, and we are very fortunate that he agreed to serve as Interim Headmaster. Please welcome Geoffrey and Evie to the Holland Hall community.
