In Memory

Dylan Torries

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 10, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Northgate Church of Christ, 101 Dewberry Drive, Lafayette, for Dylan Paul Torries, 31, who passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008, in Scott, Louisiana.
Brother Roland Berry, pastor of Northgate Church of Christ, conducted the service.
Dylan was born July 15, 1976 in Gulfport, Mississippi and moved to Lafayette with his parents as an infant. Dylan was a salesman in the R.V. industry and was still actively assisting his parents in the operation of Skate Zone, where he had grown up and made many friends. While attending high school, Dylan was appointed Ambassador in the People to People Science Ambassador Program. He traveled to Australia to study the marine ecosystem there. He graduated from Acadiana High School in 1994 and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for several years.
Dylan loved the outdoors and spent several years of his life trying to satisfy his inner yearning to be “one with nature” and “big water”. He was an avid kayaker and was a Whitewater Rafting Guide in Tennessee and West Virginia. Dylan was engaged to his soulmate, Joleen, and appreciated all the happy moments shared with her and her children. He was a person with a huge heart.
Dylan left behind his fiancée Joleen Naomi, of Scott, Louisiana; his parents Frank and Deborah Thibodeaux Torries, both of Lafayette; one sister Danika Torries, of Lafayette; his paternal grandmother, Juanita Ille, of Devol, Oklahoma; his maternal grandfather, Mitchell Thibodeaux and his wife Beverly, of New Iberia, Louisiana, and his maternal grandmother Maxie Sandridge, of Lafayette; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, the late Earnest Torries.
