Walter "Bud" E. Ammerman, Jr., age 73 of Albion formerly of Lansing passed away
Sunday, September 16, 2012. He was born in 1939 to Walter and Gladys Ammerman Sr. in Lansing, Michigan. He married Sally Louise Patrick at the Chapel on the base at The Marine Corp Landing Force Development Center in Quanitco, VA on February 18, 1961 (where they both were Marines) and as Corporals they shared 51 years of memories.

Walter graduated from the January 1957 Class of Eastern High School in Lansing, Michigan.

Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving in Japan. Bud worked for many years at National Cash Register in Harrisburg, PA while living in Mechanicsburg and Newport, PA prior to moving to Albion. Walt was the President and Founder of Spindle Grinding Service, Inc in Albion founding it in 1982 working at it for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg, PA V.F.W. Post#6704, long time member of Lansing Aerie #1039 F.O.E and a member of Albion First United Methodist Church since 1975; and also a member of the Albion Forks Senior Center.
 

Surviving are his wife of 51 years Sally Louise Patrick; daughter Virgie Moryle Ammerman; son Walter "Wally" (Jennifer) Ammerman III; grandchildren Hannah Elizabeth Ammerman, Molly Kathryn Moryle Warner, Christopher (Cassie) Glenn Friedrick, Jonathon David Warner; great grandchildren Addisyn and Gabryella Friedrick; sister Marsha "Marti" Clark (Tom) of Dewitt; step-sister Annetta "Ann" Luznak of St. Johns; Step-brother Jerry Lynn (Jayne) Steffy of Sun City, AZ; Too many Nieces and Nephews that were special to him to mention; sisters-in-law Patty (Patrick) Gordon of Mechanicsburg, PA, Kathy (Patrick) Howarth of Middletown, PA, Ruth Patrick of Mechanicsburg, PA; brothers-in-law George Patrick, Don (Donna) Phillips. His dog "Girl"; dearest friends from the Marine Corp. Les (Nancy) Farmer of Pennsylvania, Al Agamite from Wisconsin and John Nickander from Washington.
 

Bud was preceded in death by his Mother Gladys Moryle Ammerman, his father Walter E. Ammerman Sr.; his sister Merlene Moryle Phillips; step-mother Wanda Ammerman and brothers-in-law Gary Patrick and John Patrick.

Bud's body is being donated to science. At a later date his remains will be split between Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek and Chain of Lakes at the Waffle Farm Campground in Coldwater. Bud and Sally spent many summers together at the Campground and lifelong friends there will miss him along with neighbors from Amberton Village in Albion as he and Sally have lived there for over 36 years. He was also noted as a Master of telling jokes.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 2:00-4:00P.M. and 6:00-8:00P.M and Friday September 21, 2012 from 10:00 A.M until 11:00 A.M. at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224.

 

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Williams officiating.
