Bruce Charles Austin

After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Bruce Charles Austin, age 72, passed away on October 3, 2011 with his wife by his side in Texas. He was born April 25, 1939, son of Harry Austin and Lou Smith. Bruce was a retired employee of General Motors and served in the U.S. Navy. He had a tremendous love of the outdoors; enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid golfer. Bruce greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, which included many fond memories of time spent at the 
family cottage on Diamond Lake, the kid’s sporting events, and especially time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Junell Austin; children: Chuck Austin of Grand Ledge, Kelly (Dennis) Meister of Lansing, Patrick (Lisa) Malloy of Grand Ledge, Jody (Brian) Kramer of New Palestine, IN, and Wendy (Jeff) Wormser of Houston, TX;
14 grandchildren and one sister, Marilynn (Martin) Campbell of Lansing. He is predeceased by his parents and stepfather.
 
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 - 11:00 A.M. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with Military Graveside services to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice or Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Bruce C. Austin.
