Linda Freeman  1939 – 2016

Linda Lee Danby Freeman, 76, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died March 2, 2016. She was an elder at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and a member of the Billie Watt Sunday School Class.

Born May 10, 1939 in Lansing, Michigan, Linda graduated summa cum laude from Pauline Lewis Hayworth College at Queens University of Charlotte in May 2001.

Survivors include son, Matthew Jack Freeman and his wife, Pauline and two granddaughters, Lindsey Kristine Freeman and Bailey Rose Freeman, all of Hillsborough, NC. Also surviving are son, Kenneth J. Freeman and his wife, Hope of Red Lodge, MT and granddaughters, Holly Johnson and Kara May Freeman of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Otto L. Danby II and his wife Sue of Gastonia; and a sister, Karen Allen and her husband, Rich of Beulah, Michigan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristin Marie Freeman in 1980, a son, James R. Freeman in 2009 and her husband, Jack in 1996.

A service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jeff Pinkston officiating. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center following the memorial service. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Glen Rest Memorial Estates in Columbus, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1902 Brunswick Ave., Charlotte, NC 28207, or to the Ben Brown Scholarship Fund, Steele Creek Presbyterian Church 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28217.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth Poe Services 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
