Richard Pride

Age 72, of Lansing, went to be with his Lord on January 24, 2012. He was born September 26, 1939, in Lansing, MI, to James Blackburn Pride and Dorothy Blythe Pride.

Richard was a resident of Delta Township and their home he built on Maston Lake in Kent County. He was a 45-year member of Ironworkers Local 25 and retired General Field Superintendent for Douglas Steel Fabrication working 33 years in the erection of schools, hospitals, and office buildings in the Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Lansing areas, and numerous buildings on the MSU campus. He was also previously employed by Raff & Dexter Construction, building bridges in Michigan and Indiana.

He was a member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on committees and as an usher.

Richard is survived by his spouse, Carol, and three sons and families: Timothy and Pam, Todd and Mary, and Monte and Wendy Pride. Grandchildren: Nicollette, Dillon, Benjamin, Trevor, Aaron, Lucas, and Zoe. Brother, Ron and Mary Pride and sister, Joan and Leslie White. Mother-in-law Rena Edwards, sisters-in-law Pat and Steve Linderman and Peggy and Brian Parker, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing, with the Rev. James R. Lichtenberger and the Rev. Matthew A. Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, and from 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
