Roger C. West

8/20/1937 – 4/11/2011

Roger C. West, age 73, of Stanton, passed away on Monday, April 11th, at his home with his family by his side.  He was born on August 20, 1937 in Crystal, the son of Paul R. & Mary (Bogart) West. Both parents have preceded him in death.

In Stanton, on December 15, 1989, Roger was married to the former Phyllis K. Norwood and she survives in addition to his four sons and their families, Paul West of Fowlerville, David West of Texas, Michael West of Elsie, Brian West of Lansing and Phyllis’s four sons and a daughter and their families, James Briggs of Stanton, Jack Briggs of Sparta, Mike Briggs of Germany, Tim Briggs of California and Linda Strait of Grand Rapids, plus several grand and great grandchildren.  Also, he leaves two brothers, Dick and John, three sisters, Janet, Marilyn and Kay.

Roger has been a longtime resident of Stanton and was retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing.  He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, a longtime member and past post commander of the Stanton American Legion Post 452 and held a membership in the 40 & 8 Voiture #1420.

Memorial services will be held at the Stanton American Legion Post 452 on Saturday, April 30, 2011, beginning at 11:00 A.M. with a luncheon following.
