I knew Leo since his twin sister and I met the last month of 6th grade. I had just moved to Las Cruces from Virginia. Leo and Lucinda befriended me even though there was less than a month left of school.

After that, every memory I have of Leo (from Lynn Junior High to LCHS to NMSU) involves Leo and his incredible talent. Leo was an amazing trumpet player.

Okay, not all my memories include his talent for playing a trumpet. I have vague memories of sleeping over at the Jacques house, Lucinda and I were friends. . . get your mind out of the gutter . . .. I vaguely remember him bugging me and Lucinda (as all 14 year old boys do).. . I don't remember what he did, I just remember as a 13 or 14 year old girl that it vexed me.

I do remember that Leo was a wonderful soul. I miss him more than I can say. I regret that I did not keep in touch with him after NMSU.

In a nutshell, Leo was a very talented musician who was taken long before we were ready for him to go.

Leo and Lucinda were my favorite people in elementary school. Leo and I used to draw joke books together in class. He was a wonderful person--always good natured and funny. I wish his family the very best...

Leo was an amazing talent and had so much more to show the world. He worked diligently in all he did and what amazed me most, the love he had for his sister. They were amazing when with each other, always respected each other. My heart is broken at the loss of Leo, the world will never get the opportunity to live in his light, even if it would been only for a short time. May God bless you and keep you always Leo. We miss you terribly.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Leo and my family.

Leo was born with heart problems. In fact, his cardiologist discouraged him from marching in the Rose Bowl parade. Needless to say, he marched in the parade and believe me, it was the highlight of both of our high school days.

In the summer of 2000, Leo unexpectedly suffered a massive heart attack. He passed away very quickly and suddenly. He didn't suffer and I consider that a true blessing.

Leo knew how to have fun and made so many friends especially in college. He had an awesome sense of humor and was really hilarious! He knew how to "work a crowd".

On any account, I feel so lucky to have been chosen to be his twin and look forward to one day seeing him again.
