Obituary for Cindy Mullen Spain
 
Cynthia L. "Cindy" Spain, 65, Kansas City, Mo., died Dec. 26, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospice House after a long struggle with breast cancer. Cindy was born Nov. 27, 1948, to Dr. James S. and Marabelle Hargis Mullen. She was raised in Leavenworth and attended the University of Kansas. During her life she was a crafter, a soccer mom, devoted to her children and an inspiration to her family. Cindy is survived by husband of 43 years, Kenneth W. Spain, daughter, Alyssa B. Springer and husband Jeff, son, James K. "Jake" Spain, brother, James C. Mullen and sisters, Elise Callahan and Janet Mullen. The family expresses its deep appreciation to the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at St. Luke's Hospital, its Cancer Institute and Hospice House for the loving care given Cindy during her battle with cancer and in her last days. No services or visitation will be held - only a family celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Luke's Cancer Institute or St. Luke's Hospice House. Dorothy/Dottie Cassella (Huhn)

Cindy, you were such a nice girl and I can't believe you are gone.  You had such a beautiful Mom and I would love going to your house.  I am glad you had a good life and enjoyed your children.  I always knew you would.  Prayers are with you and your family.  Love, Dottie & Mike
