Occupation:    Professional Guitar Teacher &

Children:    Melissa Ann Colborn, 1994
Asher Robert Colborn, 1997

School Story:    Coach/Teacher Denny Pueltz told Ron Strnad and I that we had to do additional wind-sprints and run the "ladder" after football practice, because we had missed a Saturday morning football practice because of playing in our rock group "The People." Coach Pueltz told me after that long practice that I had to choose between football and playing guitar in the rock band. I turned in my football gear the next day and never looked back. Ron Strnad had several state records for the 100 yard dash and was given a bit more lee-way; he was allowed to continue football and play music in our band. I am grateful for Coach Pueltz firmly pushing me towards playing guitar - I was and am a better guitar player than offensive left tackle! I organized the 1990 Reunion tour of Lincoln Southeast, and arranged to have a lot of our teachers and school staff waiting inside the front door to greet the returning 1970 alums. Coach Bill Stephenson stood in the lobby with tears streaming down his face recalling how much he loved our class and Southeast. Mrs. Ruff forgave me for my horrible French. Mrs. Murphy - when asked why she unfairly kicked me out of class one day, responded and asked me if I had ever acted up in her class and hadn't gotten caught for doing so. I told her that I had indeed acted up, so she said, "we're even!" A final story - Mrs. Kunkle had arranged a parent/student/counselor conference to go over whether or not I was going to college, and if so, what prep work was needed. During that conference, she opened my file and said that "Scott had been absent, tardy or truant 86 times," and actually had a list of when/what/where etc. She told my parents that I shouldn't plan on going anywhere and that I didn't have the focus for college. I lost my keys and driving privileges - my father was steamed. But that "challenge" that Joyce gave me that day helped me to in effect get better grades, which I then did so for the remainder of 11th and 12th grade. I'm grateful for the time spent at Southeast - much more so now than then!

Any higher education or advanced degrees?    Two years of college, then went on tour with a rock band and played the Midwest from `71 - `75.

What do you do now?    I teach guitar professionally in a full-time capacity - at a private studio and at Dietze Music Briarhurst. I host the world's longest running paranormal talk radio program - "Exploring Unexplained Phenomena," every Saturday morning 10 - 12 noon Central Time, since 1984. Listen live or later via http://www.e-u-p.org .

What do you like to do in your spare time?    I enjoy reading (a book every 24 - 48 hours or so), bowling, guitar, chasing my kids, and I'm a Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, NE.

What did you always want to do that you haven’t done yet?    No regrets - I've done pretty much whatever I felt that I "had" to do!

What's the farthest you've been from home?    Hawaii.

Places you want to go?    Heaven, but not for awhile.

Favorite Music:

Rock and Blues! I enjoy any good music played proficiently, and will have classical on when I'm reading, etc.

Favorite Movies:    Christmas Story, the Harry Potter movie series, National Treasure, and old Hitchcock movies.

Favorite TV Shows:    Sky King. Leave It To Beaver.

Favorite Quote:    "Always do right. This will gratify some people, and astonish the rest." Mark Twain.

Anything else we should know?    Linell Connolly and I are the organizers for a Southeast High School Class of `70 reunion dinner, to be held every year on the Saturday night prior to the 4th of July every year. We hope you can join us for good conversation in a low noise atmosphere and some good food.

2011, Vals.
2012, Vals.
2013, Lee's Chicken.

I organize the annual "Ghosts of Lincoln" bus tours that take place on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in October, or by group reservation.
