Bill (William) Mattison was my neighbor on the corner of Scott Avenue and Lake Street (about 2 blocks north of Southeast High School). We did everything together growing up. We went to school together from Primary School, Grade School at Sheridan, then Pound Junior High through the end of High School at Southeast.

I'll bet there's a few that might remember that Southeast High School also incuded Kidergarden through 3rd Grade at one time. It must have been around 1957 - 1960? Bill Mattison, Fred Ogren, Toni Fink, KC Furr, myself and others from our HS graduating class attended there for at least a year or so.

Bill was both musicaly inclined and very artistic. He loved drawing cartoons also when he was younger. Bill also excelled as a Draftsman and Architect as an adult.

Bill (trumpet), Paul Calvin (keyboards), Gregg Nicklas (drums), Ron Anderson (trombone) and I (electric guitar & trumpet) had formed a band "The New Brass Keys" - and played a few places around Lincoln the summer between Jr High and High School - such as Pioneer Park. I think we even made the local paper (Lincoln Journal and Star).

I am truly shocked, saddened and feel somehow smaller upon finding that Bill is no longer with us.

I shall miss him.
