Peggy Jo Moeller, age 67, passed away Monday September 24, 2018 in Colorado Springs. Peggy spent her last days and moments with her loved ones, she passed away in peace. Peggy was born March 19, 1951 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Earl and Eleanor Elliott. She grew up in Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln Northeast High School. Peggy continued her education graduating from Southeast Community College with a degree in Nursing. She spent many years working as an LPN. Initially, once she moved to Colorado, she worked at St Francis Hospital in the nursery and on the pediatric floor. Peggy later worked at Fort Carson’s Evans Army Hospital in a clinic.
When Peggy was healthy she loved riding horses, water skiing, and jogging. She had a fantastic voice and could sing beautifully. She could play a mean game of “pitch” and always loved playing cards. As Peggy became more ill with Lupus, she lost a lot of mobility and struggled with pain. She still enjoyed reading and spending time with her family/friends. She really loved playing games, especially with her granddaughters Gaby and Mila. Peggy was a faithful Methodist who truly lived a Christian life.
Peggy met the love of her life at Little Bo’s on 27th and Cornhusker Highway. They met over a competitive game of table soccer, better known as “foosball”. Peggy married Ken Moeller on March 14, 1980, just five days before she turned 29 years of age.
Peggy loved many things about life. She loved butterflies, Angels, Carrie Underwood, and most of all her family. She loved Weimaraner dogs and elephants. She had quite the coffee mug collection, getting a mug from everywhere she would travel. She loved Senor Manuel’s Mexican restaurant and margaritas. Peggy loved the summer to fall season change. Her family spent many car trips together driving to Cripple Creek or other areas of the mountains to see the leaves change color. Peggy was very proud of her children’s accomplishments and of the people they had become. She was excitedly watching her granddaughters, Gaby and Amelia, grow into willful and determined young ladies. Getting hugs and kisses from them was always her favorite thing in the world. They would play cards and games together, do puzzles, and cuddle. Going to the movie theatre for the newest Disney/Pixar movie was something she loved to do with them as well. Peggy has always been a wonderful mother and grandmother to her family.
Peggy loved to sing and laugh. One of her most favorite places to go visit on Earth was Disney World in Florida. This love of Disney didn’t start in childhood like one would think. It began after her daughter Tara worked at the Animal Kingdom for a semester in college and Peggy and Ken came down to pick her up to bring her back to Colorado. It was all about Disney World family trips after that! It is called the “Happiest Place on Earth” after all.
Peggy and Ken found happiness traveling to Florida every two years for a week-long Disney vacation. They loved the entertainment and the adventure. She also loved the shopping and could spend hours just going through each of the little shops along Main Street in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Once she had granddaughters, visiting Disney World became even more special to her. Peggy was so happy to take them there, and to be able to share that time with them. Grandma Moeller (Ken’s mom) would also come along. Those were wonderful days that her family will cherish and adore the memories forever.
She was preceded by her parents and one brother Jim Elliott. Peggy is survived by her husband, Ken Moeller; one daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Joseph Clemens; one son, Matt Moeller; one brother, Robert Elliott; two granddaughters, Gabrielle Clemens & Amelia Clemens; and many other family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 4210 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. All are welcome to attend.
