James D. Hess

  James Douglas Hess, 25, of  51 E. Lincoln Ave., Lititz, died at 1:25 p.m. Thursday (March 19, 1970) in the General Hospital of a gunshot wound of his head.
  Dr. Barrie Moberg, deputy coroner, issued a verdict of suicide.
  Dr. Moberg and Lititz police said Hess shot himself in the right side of the head with a .22 caliber rifle at his home. He was taken by Warwick ambulance to the hospital and admitted shortly after 1 p.m. He died in the emergency room a short time later.
  Hess was born in Lancaster, son of James B. and Caroline Fry Hess, and was a lifelong resident of Lititz. He had attended Pennsylvania State University and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lititz.
  Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, J. Craig, Lititz and Brian, at home; and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Fry, Brownstown.

Doug is burried in the Brownstown Cemetery.
