He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Hammonds, Sr.; mother, Tarris Hammonds; brothers, Fred and Louis Hammonds; sister, Mildred Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife Alice A. Hammonds; children, Bryant A. Hammonds (Siti), Eric L. Hammonds, Allison N. Butler (Dietriche); brother, Michael Hammonds (Lessie); sisters, Helen Johnson (Willie), Gloria Green (Melvin), Gwendolyn Simmons; two grandchildren, Kenyon Hammonds, Alex Wildor Hammonds; other family and friends.
