                                                   Reflections of Life

“To those whom I have loved and those who have loved me, I am free and my soul is at rest. I gave you my love; in return, I have yours. I am now with my lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Erma Jean Shelton-Colding was born August 4, 1949 to the late Overida Shelton Sr. and Ladie Simmons-Shelton. She was preceded in death by one brother Overida Shelton Jr. (Marzell)

Erma confessed her hope in Christ at Collins Temple Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend C.B. Knox Jr.

Erma was a product of the Little Rock Public Schools and a 1967 graduate of Horace Mann High School. She attended Arkansas AM&N College now University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Erma’s contributions to the community were many through her work with Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC), Safeway, Tele Credit, Superior Bank, Twin City Bank and Delta Trust Bank.

In 1971, she married the love of her life- her junior high school sweet heart, Ronald Colding, who preceded her in death. Their union was blessed with one beautiful daughter, best friend and living doll, Rhlonda Nichelle Colding.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2014, Erma, surrounded by her loving family and best friend Sandra Harris at Baptist Health Hospital made her transition into the Heavenly Gates.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory to her devoted daughter Rhlonda Nichelle ‘Nikki” Colding: her mother, Ladie Shelton; two sisters, Lois (Charles) Walker  (San Leandro, CA), Patricia (Freddie) Smith (Fairfield, CA); four brothers – her twin Eugene (Deborah) Shelton, George (Aquanetta) Shelton (Fort Worth, TX), Isaac Shelton, and Howard Shelton, Little Rock, Arkansas; son-in-love Stacey Lee; and host of aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Rip Mommy....you will truly be missed but never forgotten. My best friend has gotten her wings & flown on to heaven. I am going to miss you dearly but I know you are in a better place...Take mommy & I will see you soon one day in heaven. I love you more than words can say. I wanted you here with me but God wanted you more. You were the best mom a girl could ever have.

You & daddy are now reunited again in heaven. We had nothing but great times together & I thank God for the time he has allowed you to be here with me. You will always be missed but never forgotten.

You were truly my queen!

Rhlonda Colding
