Comments:

Verna and I have been married over 35 years. I graduated from Arkansas College of Technology in '82 with a focus on electronics. I started with Simplex in '85 and have been in the fire protection business more than 30 years. We lived in Little Rock for 10 years after graduation, but I 'discovered' Greenbrier while working on a project in the area so we bought some property in the country outside of town and then built a home on it. We love the small town atmosphere and are very involved in community activities with the church and community.

Decided to run for public office in 2010 and was elected Justice of the Peace, Faulkner County District 2, the first republican to hold this seat. Was sworn in as a member of the Faulkner County Quorum Court on January 1, 2011 and was elected to serve for 6 two year terms, and was also elected as the board president of the Arkansas Association of Quorum Courts. In 2022 I decided not to run for re-election.

In 2021 I retired after 35 years with the company as a region manager. In 2023, after two years of retirement, the Faulkner County Judge reached out and asked if I would come on board his administration as his chief of staff in the position of Faulkner County Administrator, so I came out of retirement to continue service in county government.

School Story:

As I look back on it I disliked going to McClellan High School. I recall funny and exciting happenings of my high school years but none of them are school related. Several of us worked summer jobs loading trucks at Pepsi Cola on Patterson Road. We worked hard, made some spending money, and had a lot of fun on weekends. A bunch of us worked after school and weekends at Kroger on the corner of Baseline and Geyer Springs. I actually learned a lot from the old store manager, Jim Royal. Although we all thought he was a mean old fart, he would take time to coach and mentor us.

I took flying lessons in all my spare time after I turned 15 and was flying small airplanes from North Little Rock airport before I was old enough to get my drivers license. I passed the FAA test and flight requirements shortly after my 17th birthday and earned my Private Pilot's license just before we started our senior year in high school. I remember I took Verna up on a flight over her parents farm on Colonel Glenn Road on our 2nd or 3rd date.

Buddy was my oldest friend, we met in the 6th grade at Watson Elementary and were fast friends throughout junior high at Mabelvale and then HS.  We worked together on our first real job the summer after 10th grade loading trucks at Pepsi Cola on Patterson Road.  I had just talked to him on the phone the week before he passed away and we laughed until I had to wipe the tears from my eyes.  I'll miss you old friend.
