In Memory

Heidi LeAnne Hix

Heidi enjoyed a brief stretch as a stewardess, so she would contact me (Roxy) when she was in my area, particularly in Des Moines, Iowa. I was taking a course at UCSC one year and stayed with Heidi in Studio City. She was gorgeous and funny, interesting and owned a BIG heart and never let a wheelchair stop her from going places and sharing her love of laughter. R.I.P.

My beautiful friend Heidi taught me how to ski at Bear Valley...well she picked me up a lot from the mountain.  We took ballet lessons together and the ballet master said we were like two swans but we needed a lot of training.  She was dating Todd Lumpkes when he was tragically killed in a tractor accident.  We cried together and then she eventually found love again with Guy Everett.  When I told her I was seeing an older married man she laughed and said learn everything you can in the bedroom then go conquer the world. I thought it was funny at the time but sometimes you just had to use those skills to survive. We went dress shopping together for our outfits to get hired as stewardesses.  She was based out of New York and I was based out of Chicago. We compared stories of our travels.  She was always in trouble for something with the inflight nazis and so was I.  We would catch up eventually in Los Angeles and she was walking with a cane.  I held her and cried and she said it is only life this isn't stopping me from living mine.  Heidi you died too soon but on this earth your light shone so bright I still smile everytime i think of you. I will always love our times together.  Keep them smiling in heaven my forever friend.

Thanks so much, Judi, for sharing those memories and feelings.  I think I was hanging out with her more around the Guy Everett (who also passed away too soon) time.   She, Guy, me and Mike Lee (where is he?) would go to Shoup Park or some other place in the hills to take walks and then we'd couple off for private kissing sessions.  We lived a few houses apart on Solana Ave, though I didn't keep in touch.   It wasn't till I heard she was sick with MS, and visited her in Walnut Creek.  She showed me her modeling portfolio...such a beautiful woman in one amazing photo after another.   Amazingly, she didn't show regret for the Christian Science attitude of not getting doctors involvement with her illness.   At least that's part of my memory of that last day I saw, cried and hugged her.    Yes, Heidi, keep on dazzling everyone...whereever you are.
