Todd C. Gibbs

Army SFC Todd Clayton Gibbs 37, of Lufkin was killed December 07, 2004, while on patrol in Khalidiyah, Iraq. He is survived by: his loving wife Melissa Gibbs; his one-year old son Zachary, and his ten year old daughter Lea, all from Killeen; his mother Kay Gibbs; brother Brett Gibbs, and sister Kim Jones; mother-in-law Carolyn Teague, and father-in-law Carroll Perkins; and brother-in-laws, Gene and Bryce Perkins. SFC Gibbs was a 1986 graduate of Lufkin High School. He received an Associate's degree from Lon Morris College, in Jacksonville, Texas and a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from San Houston State University. A 13-year Army veteran, SFC Gibbs had served as a peacekeeper in Macedonia in the early 1990's. His career also included serving as a recruiter, and a firing range instructor at Fort Sill Okla. Previously stationed in South Korea, he was deployed to Iraq in August, 2004.
