Hotel/Motel Recommendation for Out-of-Town Classmates

Hey guys  --

Does anyone know of a decent hotel/motel near the reunion site that might reserve a block of rooms for those people not living in town who might need a place to stay?

I know there's a recently renovated Holiday Inn in Mayfield Village that's about 4 miles from where the reunion is being held. It's attached to a good Italian Restaurant called Alfredo's (we had a birthday party for my mother there about 8 years ago).

Anyway - anyone know about this Holiday Inn or any other hotel/motel that might be a better choice?

I'm not sure their policy on holding a block of rooms but you might want to call and check with:

Hilton Cleveland East /Beachwood

3663 Park East Drive, Beachwood, Ohio, United States 44122
Tel: 1-216-464-5950

Both I and my brother have stayed at there with our families a few years back, got decent rates, and it was good both times.

Thanks, Mark.  I know exactly where that Beachwood Hilton is . . . and there are plenty of hotels (Embassy Suites, Marriott, etc.) nearby.  I will check it out.

Should I have posted my inquiry in a different spot -- or was it OK to use "General Topics" in the User Forums.  I couldn't figure out how to post the inquiry separately . . . so I just put it in General Topics.

Try couchsurfing.org / I have a buddy here that takes in people thru this website, many of who I've met. Seems an insteresting way to find a bed & crash for a few nights. Me, I'll be at Mom's or Roosters.

Thanks for the website, Logan.  Hadn't heard of anything like that before, but -- it's a good idea.  My brother still lives in town and I have plenty of cousins that I can "visit" -- so, I know there will be a place for me somewhere .  I just thought I'd put the hotel thing out there in case there were some people going solo who might want to get together outside of the reunion.

See you in August.  Looking forward to it.  Take care.

Janice Gaffney provided this information about hotels in the area around reunion time:

"I reserved blocks of rooms at three different hotels starting on August 5-8 in case some classmates what to get here a day earlier.

The first one is the Hilton Garden Inn in Mayfield Village, their phone number is 440-646-1777 and the rate is $89.00 a night and mention that they are here for the 40th reunion.

The next one is the Holiday Inn in Mayfield Village, phone is 440-461-9200, rate $89.00 a night.

The third one is the Marriott Willoughby Courtyard, phone 440-530-1100, located off of 90 just minutes from St. Noel.  Their rate is $109.00 a night.

All reservations must be called in by July 15th in order to reserve the room rate."

Be sure to mention you are attending the 40th Brush HS Class of '70 Reunion.

Hi Marlene,

My bud that takes people in thru Couchsurfing is a bit odd but pretty generous. Some French couple that stayed with him, a cop & his cop wife wants to exchange houses for a month and they live on some island community in Paris. He hates traveling, but I'm trying to get him to say yes to this one. I hope it concurs with the reunion because I'm not too fond of traveling either. As for me doing any couchsurfing, it's just not cup of tea but find the people that show up at his doorstep some very interesting people. I think that's why he does it.

All the best & aloha, Logan

Thanks again, Logan.  I'm probably going to reserve a room at the Holiday Inn in Mayfield Village and double-up with a few girlfriends who are coming from out-of-town.  It will be fun.

I've never been to Hawaii and envy you for being there.  Enjoy!  See you in August.  Take care.
