Bruce Darling VIEW PROFILE

From George Jasper:

Our friend and school colleague, Bruce Darling, passed away in Oregon last week. He was a professor of accounting at the University of Oregon and a great person. I had kept in constant touch with Bruce through the years and he will be sorely missed.

Thanks for the post, George! Bruce had mentioned to me that you were a good friend of his. Can you post a link to his death notice? I searched the internet and couldn't find one. Bruce last contacted me three weeks ago, and I was not aware of his passing. At that time, Bruce lamented not being able to drive due to vision problems, but was looking forward to the start of Winter Term. He really loved teaching the young college students. Plus, Bruce felt very fortunate to have met his wife Cher, who brought more happiness to his life out in Oregon!

Bruce and I became great friends back when we met at Bolton Elementary. We enjoyed doing many things together while in school, including good times at Severance Center mall, Eastgate Coliseum, and Euclid Beach (all gone but not forgotten!) I remember that you and Bruce worked on the yearbook staff while I helped put out the Arc-Lite newspaper. Bruce had many interests, including board games (we were in the Chess Club at Memorial Jr. High), trains (he had taken Amtrak many times, and had a large model train layout), and old sci-fi and horror films (he had met Vincent Price a number of times).

Bruce had told me that he really missed the South Euclid-Lyndhurst area, and hoped to one day be able to move back here. Sadly, he never got that chance. It's tough losing our friends, and you and I will definitely miss Bruce. He passed away too young, but Bruce definitely lived a full life!

I didn't know Bruce that well in high school but became friends after.  For the 30 years that I have been friends with Bruce he aways  seemed  to smile and just made you feel better, I will miss our conversations.  Jim Krivanek

I was very sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. He and I sat next to each other in homeroom and his quiet humor always helped the day start out ok for me. Thanks to all who posted comments and thanks for keeping us "in touch"--even though the news is not always "good".       (Tony ("Duke") DeIuliis)

I used to hang out with Bruce in high school.  I remember all the tackle football games.  Bruce was always upbeat, smart and kind.  You will be missed.

I remember Bruce on Brush JV football. I think he played right offensive tackle. Red hair & always smiling. Condolences to the Darling family.
