I remember Richard Ostrom from Indian Guides, way back, and he played in the 4th chair clarinet row in band.  He was one of those people who was a good guy, but was treated badly by other more fortunate people, who thought it was fun to tease, provoke and exclude.  Why would their parents teach them to behave like that, I wonder?  I remember Richard being on the receiving end of some of that - hope his life was better after he got out of there!

Unfortunately Richard did not have a very good life. He died very young from a brain injury. He lived on my street and was a very nice guy whom got teased relentlessly.

I did know Richard at all.  I feel I have to comment about what I read about him.  It is beyond me that people can be so cruel to other people.  I guess maybe it has to do with no compassion or empathy for others.  Shame on those people that tormented him.  RIP

RIP Richard, I also did not know him, but give my condolances to his family. It is sad to find out a fellow classmate had such an unhappy life and was constantly "bullied". My God Bless him!

Sad to hear...I met him through Jan...May he rest in peace...Brush was a very brutal school when it came to bullying...sorry that he had to endure that experience.
