Paul was my first love in 9th grade. He was so smart but so not into school. He cut school alot. (Me too.) The BFF and I used to go to Severence and watch him shoot pool. He was really good. Our song was "so happy together" by the turtles ... remember that one? Still have some love notes that we passed each other in school. So sad, he was a great guy.

Paul was one of my best friends growing up.  We went to Victory Park together in the same class through sixth grade, but were split up in jr high...Paul to Memorial and I went to Greenview.  He was one of the smartest kids I knew and one of the best all-around athletes I've played with or against.  We had so many great times.  Somehow we would "forget" to go to catechism class and wind up playing some serious kickball on the playground well into the evening, until his mother tracked him down.  He loved experimenting with his chemistry set and tried to teach me to make gun powder!  Paul led our Victory Park basketball team to two undefeated seasons against the other SEL elementary schools.  He was so good then that the Brush basketball coach came to scout him in sixth grade.  We went our separate ways, although I would run into him now and then shooting pool at Severance.  We lost touch for many years, but the last time I saw him, when we were in our thirties, he really seemed to be headed in the right direction and appeared to be happy.  Paul, you were taken far too soon.  I'll never forget you, old buddy.
