After the 20th reunion, Janet, Lyn Bauman Eisenthal and myself went down to Baja to go to Rosarito beach and eat lobster.    It was a a great time from Tijuana down to Hussongs Cantina.     I was sorry to hear about her first husbands death since I met him years before.  So sorry about Janet.  My condolence to the family.

I have been thinking a lot about Janet since I read the sad news.  Janet was a vibrant, open-hearted person.  For a few years, in those pre-driving, pre-dating years — which in retrospect was a golden age, slow and easy, aimless, carefree — Janet, Lori Medla, Judi Young and I made up a happy little foursome.  I remember long walks, long conversations, giggles and crushes, sleepovers and madly dancing to The Beach Boys in someone’s basement.  Janet had the most musical laugh, you had to laugh with her.  As people do when they’re growing up, we all went along our divergent paths, but that sweet young foursome has always stayed in my heart.  It is hard to think of Janet, that bright light, gone.  But I’ll imagine her as a bright star now, somewhere to the West.
