Rick was one of my best friends in high school.  I will always remember the good times we had traveling around in Rick's Chevy Vega (a classic), playing basketball with friends at the YMCA,  and Rick's fun loving stories regarding his newspaper work and trombone experiences.   I remember Rick as a good man with a strong sense of humor who was always pursuing his life's next dream.  Rick was a strong positive influence on my life during my developmental years and I will always remember him for that.

Rick Thomas was very, very special to me, from the early days in high school until his untimely death. I'll always remember his laugh, his generosity, and the way he loved life and all the people he held dear. He was very close to my mom and Lloyd as well, and I remember the many nights at their house when we played poker (and he usually won!!) He spent time with me here on Hilton Head when my mom and Lloyd lived here part time. I never walk on Dolphin Head Beach or stop by the Salty Dog that I don't think of the great times we had here. Rick is an unforgettable man, and I am proud to call him a very special friend. He'll never be forgotten.

Rick was my brother and my best friend - he left us 13 years ago June 18 to cancer.  He adored his daughter, Kelly, who almost one year ago gave Rick his first grandhild, Rick's brothers and sisters their first great niece, and Rick's parents their first great grandchild - Olivia Rose.  Rick's ashes were scattered, per his request, at his favorite place - Canandaigua Lake in New York and his family spends time there together on Rick's boat at least once a year.  Rick is profoundly loved and deeply missed.

Kristin,  my deepest sympathies for your loss.

Rick and I had a great friendship as well.  I remember fondly the time I drove that stupid Vega all the way to Ft. Lauderdale for him and to spend Spring Break with him.  I was with him when he met is (first?) wife, though I don't recall her name. I lost contact with him after I moved away but think of him often.  Very sorry to hear of his passing.
