Carol Anne Poteet, 59, of Madisonville, formerly of Brentwood, Tenn., died May 21, 2001, at Regional Medical Center of cancer. Carol was born in Hopkinsville, KY, Feb. 20, 1942, to Wilma Harper of Madisonville and the late Richard C. Harper. She was preceeded in death by her father and one daughter, Teresa Poteet. Her mother, Wilma, said Carol was baptized and a member of the Madisonville Baptist Church in her growing-up years.

At the time of Carol's death, she was survived by her mother and two sons, Charles Poteet of Ashland City, Tenn. and John Poteet of Charleston, S.C.; one stepson, Peter Bridwell of Germany; one brother, Jerry Harper of Slaughters, KY, one sister, Jan Mitchell, Madisonville; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from MHS and Univ. of KY, she received her master's in mathemathics from Vandy in Nashivlle, Tennessee. While in Tenn., Carol worked as an Informational Technology systems engineer for IBM Corporation. She retired from IBM. While living in Tenn., she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Nashville, Tenn., where she sang in the choir.

Her funeral was conducted at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Bob King officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisoinville. Pallbearers were Mike Mitchell, Marc Mitchell, Kenny Bromm, Brad Junier, Steve Moore and Keith Medley. Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Harper and Robert Dover.
