James Donald Peters, 81, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on January 20, 2022 in his home where he lived with his daughter Sheryl.

The funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, February 28, 2022 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery for family and friends with the Reverend Andrew Pietrylo officiating. Arrangements were handled by Crevasse's Simple Cremation of Jacksonville, FL. James will be interred with his wife of 58 years, Virginia.

After graduating from Madisonville High School, Madisonville KY, he joined the US Navy Reserve and was stationed on the USS Rich, DDE-820. After his honorable discharge James worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Avco Lycoming inspecting jet engine parts in Stratford, CT. He married Virginia Eastwood, the love of his life, on September 16, 1961 in Easton, CT. They purchased their one and only home in 1977 in Monroe, CT where he retired from American Heat Treating after 21 years as the Quality Control Manager. James retired to Florida with his wife and was dedicated to his church, family and grandchildren, spending his retirement playing golf. He was a quiet, loving man with a dry sense of humor, always there for his children when they needed him. He was known as Dad and Pops, but to his grandchildren it was "PaPa"
