Patricia (Trisha) Sights Powell passed away May 7, 2018 from complications with pneumonia as well as multiple medical issues. Although a resident of Adairsville, Georgia, she had been living at Morning Pointe in Calhoun, Georgia.
Trisha was born September 14, 1942 to the late Sam and Laura Sights, Madisonville, Kentucky. She was a 1960 graduate of Madisonville High School and also Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Georgia. During her college years, she met her future husband, Billy Joe (Joe) Powell who pre-deceased her. They had one daughter, Piper Elizabeth, who survives both parents and lives in Adairsville, Georgia.
During the years Trisha and Joe lived in Atlanta, Trisha was Executive Director of the Georgia Advocacy Office whose mission is to work with and for oppressed and vulnerable individuas in Georgia. Even after moving to Adairsville, Trisha, with Joe's support, continued advocacy work for protection of those with disabilities.
Plans for a Celebration of Life event are pending. Cremation Society of Georgia was chosen for cremation of remains.
