50th Class Reunion

DETAILS

     Madisonville High School
Class Of 1960

 Hello fellow classmates.

This reunion was worth waiting 50 years.  113 people including 71 classmates and guests. The involvement and  enthusiasm of all classmates made this a memorable time together.  Looking at all the smiles, and the occasional tear, it was clear everyone had a great time.  Friday night the old City Park Clubhouse was full of memories and nostalgia, and the (relatively) new Trover Tower provided an elegant setting for Saturday night.  Our thanks to Bill Corum for arranging for us to use the Trover Tower. There are many thanks to go around, especially our Chairman Joy Beth Siria Dunn who led the entire reunion effort, and a special thanks to Monte Robinson for treating us all to a great gathering at the First Methodist Church during the day Saturday where we could spend some time just to visit with each other.  The Bar B Q was fun Friday night where it turned out the best gag gift of all was Bobby Brown.

Saturday was proclaimed "MHS Class of 1960 Day" by Madisonville Mayor Will Cox, who was made an Honorary Member of the Class of 1960.  Will and his father Bill, our own official classmate, entertained us by presenting a two Mayor view of our home town. Then we got to sing Ruth Williams' version of "Moments to Remember", with nine of the original twelve "girls" from our Class Day Program in 1960 standing in front of a photograph from that day.  Singing "Stand Up and Cheer" and "Our Boys will Shine Tonight" was a great way to conclude our time together. A special thanks to Ruth Ann Jackson Street who keeps us all connected with her email communications.

The class determined that the next reunion gathering will be our 55th, with a more informal, one day gathering in 2015, but hopefully just as well attended.  We have a core reunion committee in place and the opportunity for other classmates to join.  Bobby Brown has already volunteered to be chairman of the 75th.

You can see reunion snapshots on the 50th Reunion Photo link in the "Class of 1960 Photos" on left of the page.  You can also post your reunion photos by following the instructions for adding photos.  Reunion comments can be posted to our home page by clicking on the "post announcement" link on the directory at the left of this page. Check the "create new announcement" block to post your comments.

Again, thanks to everyone for their involvement in a great 50th reunion.
