Staff Sgt. Frank Tiai, 45, of Pago Pago, American Samoa, died in Baghdad, Iraq on July 17, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position. Tiai was assigned to the Army Reserve's 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry, Fort Shafter, Hawai'i, which is assigned the the guard’s 29th Brigade Combat Team. Frank graduated from Marist Atuu in June, 1974
