John was one of my best friends during my junior and senior years. We had a platonic relationship on and off. After high school, we kept in touch until his death. However, no one ever notified me of his death. I just figured he wasn't returning my phone calls. It wasn't until 5 years later on Easter Sunday when I was sitting in the pews at Manassas Assembly of God and saw his name written in the bulletin for "In Memory." Though it's a small world, it's sometimes funny when things like this happen. I had talked with Jerry, his brother, in the mall and ran into his mother at church and stores... yet I still didn't know. I was completely devastated, and I still long for John's friendship to this day. He was not only a great friend but also like a brother to me... always trying to protect. I will truly miss him, though the memories of his face and our fun times together will be embedded in my heart forever.
